Huskies. Never. Quit. This couldn’t be more true of the student organizations led by NIU’s innovative next-generation engineers. Here are a few of our student organizations that have shown this spring how they lead the Huskie Pack:
National Society of Black Engineers – The NIU Chapter won the award of “Distinguished Small Chapter of the Year” at the 2022 NSBE Annual Convention. They won for their consistent events and ability to grow their membership. “The biggest accomplishment during my presidency was seeing the growth in general body members and board members,” said outgoing President Und’re Wilson. “It has been a pleasure watching so many members grow as leaders and more professional in their careers.”
Society of Women Engineers – The NIU chapter was awarded the Huskie Leadership Award for Outstanding Student Organization. “We are so honored to receive this award,” said incoming President
Courtney Shimp. SWE won the award due to their teamwork, communication, management, exceptional performance, and consistent involvement with the university and the community.
NIU@RVC – The 2022 senior design team built an electro-hydraulic self-propelled vehicle and participated in the NFPA vehicle challenge in Ames, Iowa this spring. They competed against 15 universities. NIU placed in two of the categories.
