For the second consecutive year, the College of Engineering and Engineering Technology (CEET) of NIU increased its ranking in the U.S. News and World Report in 2019 for undergraduate engineering programs. It was previously ranked 74th and for 2019, and increased to 45th, and most recently to 38th for 2020 out of 210 programs.
“We have been working hard to enhance our offerings, such as the three new Ph.D. programs in electrical engineering, mechanical engineering and industrial and systems engineering; and two new bachelor’s programs we now offer in biomedical engineering and mechatronics engineering,” said Dean Donald Peterson. “It’s very exciting news as we are continuously striving to improve our ranking.”
CEET recently was granted authority to offer three new Ph.D. programs in electrical engineering, mechanical engineering and industrial and systems engineering as early as January 2020. The programs will be offered online in addition to the classroom, to accommodate the busy schedules of working professionals.
