Mechanical engineering major Charity Adeoti says it was her love of math and science and encouragement from her mother that interested her most in pursuing a degree in engineering. She recently was awarded the Motorola Solutions Foundation Engineering Scholarship through the Society of Women Engineers (SWE). Adeoti started her education at NIU this fall as a transfer student from Waubonsee Community College.
SWE scholarship recipients represent the most accomplished students who demonstrate excellence inside and outside the classroom. The scholarships help students reach their dreams of becoming successful engineers.
“My mother worked day in and day out to put my siblings and me through school by herself as well as encouraged us when we needed it most,” she said. “I am extremely dedicated and determined to get what I want in life.”
