Aaron Wiegel, a 2000 alum of the Department of Technology, was elected chairman of the Illinois Technology & Manufacturing Association (TMA) at the association’s annual dinner on April 1. Wiegel is the 80th chairman in the organization’s 91-year history.
“When I reflect on the TMA and what word best characterizes it, that word is legacy,” Wiegel told attendees at the dinner. “As a third-generation manufacturer celebrating our 75th anniversary this year, I can truly appreciate that legacy. Being elected today as your chairman, I join an elite class of ‘legacy’ chairmen, serving as my father did in 1991. This multi-generational commitment to TMA speaks to our membership’s willingness to lead and serve and make our future. I believe there is only one association that is focused on providing the manufacturing industry with a legacy. Now, my fellow members, let us get down to business.”
The same evening, Wiegel’s sister Erica, a 2002 alumna of the Department of Technology, received the Rose Mottl Award. Erica Wiegel is president of ARO Metal Stamping; the award is presented to women who make outstanding contributions to the manufacturing industry.
