NIU Engineering @ RVC is committed to your success

We want you to succeed. It’s as simple as that. That’s why, when you enroll in the NIU Engineering @ RVC program, we will do more than offer you practical, hands-on classes. We also offer services that will give you a leg up once you graduate.

Internships

Twice a year – in the spring and fall semesters – we host an internship fair at the Woodward Technology Center on Rock Valley’s campus. Companies come from throughout the Rockford region eager to hire NIU students. NIU engineers have a reputation for being practical and hands on, so employers know our interns will make valuable contributions to the company.
Meanwhile, you get all the benefits of working in real industry – experience, networking, a chance to make sure this is the field for you.

Resume Writing

Last year, a hiring professional from UTC Aerospace Systems conducted a workshop on the RVC campus on how to write a resume for an engineering job.
As an NIU student, you also have full access to NIU’s CareerServices, which can help you write your cover letter and resume and help you prepare for interviews and career fairs. You can also browse job postings from companies interested in hiring Huskies.

Webinars

NIU offers webinars to help students off campus find success. This spring’s webinar topics are how NIU Career Services can help you in your job search; how to get the most out of NIU online courses; and how to use social media and LinkedIn to help you succeed academically and in your future career.

Career Fairs

As a student in the NIU College of Engineering andEngineering Technology, you are invited to attend the spring and fall engineering job and internship fairs on the DeKalb campus. Between 50 and 60 employers attend these fairs every semester, looking for talented students to fill their open positions. Some employers conduct interviews right on the spot.
Don’t wait any longer. Take the next steps to start your future and apply now.
