The College of Engineering and Engineering Technology is sad to share the news of the passing of former professor of engineering technology and former interim chair of the Industrial Engineering Department, Dennis Stoia on July 2, 2021. Professor Stoia joined NIU in 1978 as an associate professor in Engineering Technology. He retired in February of 2003 but stayed on as a visiting associate professor for a year and then returned in the summer of 2004 as the interim chair of industrial engineering through June 2006. His son, Justin Stoia, recalls that his greatest achievement at NIU was helping non-traditional and transfer students find a path to graduation through the Engineering Technology program.
